Mercedes Benz Launches new Wallbox in the US Offering Fast Home EV Charging

Mercedes-Benz has launched its new Wallbox electric vehicle (EV) charger across the US. Mercedes-Benz customers can now charge their EV or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) overnight, depending on the battery size and state of charge.

Once the Wallbox is connected to the internet, customers can use remote functions to easily operate the wallbox with the Mercedes me connect app on their smartphone – no matter where they are.

For example, the app can be used to start and stop charging sessions, track the current charging status, display the charging history and more. Within the app, customers can estimate their home charging costs based on the energy rate and amount of energy consumed by their vehicle.

It is also able to receive over-the-air (OTT) software updates, which will allow for additional features to be added as they are developed.

It also has a 23-foot charging cable to accommodate different garage parking configurations.

The Mercedes-Benz Wallbox charges all Mercedes-Benz electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, as well as EVs from other manufacturers that use the SAE J1772 charging inlet.

Markus Rossmann, Senior Manager of Charging Solutions, Mercedes-Benz USA, says: "Mercedes-Benz is committed to providing our customers with a variety of convenient, simple and fast charging options, whether at-home or on the road. The Mercedes-Benz Wallbox is a beautifully designed and intuitive tool that offers our customers more flexibility and functionality when charging through its advanced integration with the Mercedes me connect app."
