Iconic Meyers Manx Dune Bug Returns as an EV
 
            The classic Meyers Manx dune buggy has been resurrected as an electric vehicle.
Called the Meyers Manx 2.0 Electric, the new car retains the original's classic shape but has some neat modern touches to bring it up to date, such as LED lights and blue tints across the interior.
The new car (if you can really call it a car) still has no doors but it gets some pretty impressive performance statistics. There are two battery options, a 20 kWh base model and a 40 kWh version which should return 150-mile and 300-mile ranges, respectively.
Unlike the original Manx, the 2.0 comes with all-wheel drive which should come in handy given the 150 horsepower and 202 horsepower figures for the two models. The 40 kWh version should hit 60 mph from a standstill in just 4.5 seconds.
A 6 kW charger is included but the company says it will be able to charge up to 60 kW with a DC fast charger.

An all-aluminium monocoque and independent rear suspension should mean the chassis can match the performance, while front and rear disc brakes and power steering will make it a fair bit easier to handle than the original VW Beetle-based cars.
The Manx 2.0 should also be remarkably light with the small battery pack version tipping the scales at 680 kilos, while the larger battery version clocks in at just under 750 kilos.
The company intends to deliver an initial batch of 50 cars to customers next year as part of a "Beta" program. However, it hasn't said how much the cars will cost and prospective buyers will be "hand-selected" and asked for feedback during the ownership period to develop the final production version.
Meyers Manx expects final versions to be with customers in 2024. The car will make its first public appearance at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering in Monterey, CA.
