Hydrogen-Powered Private Business Jet Unveiled by Sirius Aviation & BMW Group Designworks

Sirius Aviation AG - a developer of hydrogen-powered luxury business jet eco-travel solutions - has announced the official unveiling of SiriusJet. The world’s first hydrogen powered private business jet was developed in partnership with BMW Group Designworks.

The jet has been designed as an eco-friendly alternative to the high CO2 emissions offerings from the business and private jet sector.

It has a range of up 1150 miles (1850 km), and caters for up to five passengers.

Sirius Aviation plans to offer the SiriusJet in two configurations: a luxury business version that seats four with a range of 998 nm, and a 'Millennium' version that seats five, with a lesser range of 564 nm.

The fusion of technologies combining Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) with horizontal flight allows aircraft to conveniently take-off and land as a helicopter, but fly as fast and as energy-efficient as an airplane. 

The hydrogen-electric system draws in oxygen through an intake in the nose of the aircraft, which reacts with hydrogen that is stored a fuselage tank.

The reaction produces electricity to power the motors and water, which is disposed of through the aircraft exhaust at the tail.
