Highlights of the Geneva International Motor Show 2024 - MG, Lucid, Renault, Microlino, and More...
The Geneva International Motor Show is back. It's opened its doors for the first time since 2019, and there have already been a number of major reveals, including new electric and hybrid models.
For example, MG has unveiled an advanced hybrid supermini, the all-new MG3. Two specifications will be available at launch, each sharing the all-new Hybrid+ powertrain.
“With all the attributes to become a leader in its class, the all-new MG3 will offer customers a combination of efficiency and performance with MG’s exciting Hybrid+ powertrain,” says David Allison, MG Motor UK Head of Product and Planning.
“More refined, yet also bringing MG’s fun-to-drive philosophy to the market, the MG3 is excellently equipped, both with premium interior features and MG Pilot safety systems,” he adds.
Technology Of Tomorrow
California-based premium EV company, Lucid, is making its Geneva debut with three models on show. The SUV Gravity, the Air Sapphire and the Rear-Wheel-Drive version of the Air Pure have been presented to the European market for the first time.
Lucid is currenly present in four key European markets: Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, and Norway.
It plans to open another four studios in Germany in 2024: Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Stuttgart.
In a press release, Lucid states: 'What unites all Lucid cars is a proprietary technology that allows the automotive technology of tomorrow to be experienced today. It is characterized by short charging times - up to 400 kilometers within 16 minutes - and very long ranges of up to 839 kilometers. Always combined with the elegant design and high-quality interior for which Lucid is renowned. These attributes naturally also apply to the three new models that Lucid is presenting to the European market at this year's Geneva International Motor Show'.
Different Architectures
The global design house Frank Stephenson Design is displaying the FSD 59, a futuristic motorbike that combines advanced technology and radical design elements.
The design of FSD 59 is the result of experimenting with different architectures and technologies within the domain of electric and hydrogen propulsion bikes.
The team aimed to create a bike that could adapt to different riding styles and preferences, such as sportbikes, supersport cruisers, and high-end commuters.
Frank Stephenson, Founder and Creative Director of Frank Stephenson Design. says: "Our team has been working hard behind the scenes to present this to the world and we are very excited to share it. We look forward to announcing more news on this in the future."
Microlino Lite
One proud Swiss EV manufacturer, Micro, has presented its vision of sustainable and future-oriented mobility with the brand new Microlino Lite. This new version of the Microlino is designed to make sustainable mobility solutions accessible to an audience who do not have a driver's license.
Its top speed is limited to 45 km/h, and its basic range approximately 100km. Micro will start selling the Microlino Lite by early summer, 2024,
Merlin Ouboter, Microlino Co-Founder, says: "The Microlino Lite is our contribution to making sustainable mobility solutions accessible to an even wider community. We recognize the growing need for such mobility, especially among those who want to be safe and protected from the weather without a driver's license."
The Microlino Lite is built in Micro's factory in Turin, Italy.
And The Winner Is...
Also at this year's show, an EV was announced as The Car of the Year 2024. Renault's Scenic E-Tech electric offers a range of up to 379 miles (WLTP).
"This recognition demonstrates that we have made the right choices: record-breaking range, generous and inviting roominess, all with a closely managed environmental footprint!," says Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault.
"When you add in the driving pleasure and ‘voiture à vivre’ equipment such as the new Solarbay panoramic sunroof or the latest generation OpenR Link system with integrated Google systems, Scenic has all the right features to shore up its position on the European EV market,” he adds.
Scenic is Renault’s seventh vehicle to be voted ‘The Car of the Year’.
