Getting People to Switch to Public Transport — Via @ MOVE 2022
Jonathan Hampson, Via’s Head of UK Partnerships, tells Auto Futures how the company is helping people leave their cars behind in favour of bespoke public transport options.
Via hopes that helping users switch to public transport it will reduce congestion and reduce emissions.
However, Via is not targeting the already well-served urban areas in Britain. Instead, it is targeting suburban and rural areas that lack regular public services.
At MOVE this year, there were plenty of companies preaching the benefits of developing a more ecosystem-based approach to mobility — with public transport services working in tandem with shareable micromobility and cars. Splyt and Moovit both discussed how apps working across multiple services were essential to helping people move to more sustainable mobility options.
