European EV charging group, NewMotion, has announced its expansive roaming network now provides electric vehicle drivers with access to over 200,000 charge points across 35 European countries. Its recent partnerships include Volkswagen Group Charging in Germany, Enel X Mobility in Italy, and Gronn Kontakt in the UK.
It took NewMotion ten years to reach its 100,000 charge point milestone, which was achieved back in March 2019. Within two years, NewMotion has now doubled this figure.
NewMotion, which is a member of the Shell group, currently collaborates with over 200 roaming partners.
NewMotion’s CEO, Melanie Lane, says: “As EV adoption continues to grow, we know that EV drivers will be looking for reassurance that when driving, they won’t be caught short and run out of charge. By continuing to grow our roaming network through notable partnerships, we are helping to reduce this range anxiety and ultimately, improve interoperability throughout Europe. We will continue to look for more partners with open networks who want to make EV charging easy for drivers and are committed to expanding our European charging network beyond 200k charge points in the coming years.”
NewMotion operates more than 80,000 charge point installations at home, business and public locations across Europe. Shell’s ambition is to operate 500,000 charge points by 2025.
