Tesla has filed a lawsuit against Amazon-backed electric vehicle start-up Rivian.
In addition to the poaching of its executives, the Californian automaker believes that its US rival has been stealing its trade secrets, accusing the company of taking confidential information to Rivian.
“Rivian is knowingly encouraging the misappropriation of Tesla’s trade secret, confidential, and proprietary information by Tesla employees that Rivian hires,” the company said in a statement.
Tesla also mentioned that it had noticed a “disturbing pattern of employees who are departing for Rivian surreptitiously stealing Tesla trade secret, confidential, and proprietary information — information that is especially useful for startup electric vehicle company.”
There are roughly 180 former Tesla employees currently at Rivian, which says that Elon Musk’s allegations are “baseless.”
Stay tuned for more information as it develops.
