Later today, Uber will announce that it has agreed to acquire American local food delivery service Postmates, in a $2.65 billion all-stock takeover.
It is believed that Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty, Head of Uber Eats, will continue to manage the company’s overall delivery business. Postmates CEO Bastian Lehmann will continue to manage his company as a separate service under the new acquisition.
Uber’s new strategy will help it take on US market leader DoorDash by utilising Postmates’ market share, especially in areas such as Los Angeles and the Southwest.
Stay tuned for more updates as they develop.
