SEAT has confirmed long-term rumours by announcing that Luca de Meo has stepped down from his position as President of the automaker, with the global media tipping the French-Speaking Italian as the new CEO of Renault.

In a press statement, SEAT said that de Meo left “on his own request and in common agreement with the Volkswagen Group.”

SEAT Vice-president for Finance Carsten Isensee will assume the presidency of SEAT until further notice, while continuing with his functions.
