TomTom, Bosch and Daimler have teamed up to work on a smart cruise control for commercial vehicles. Daimler’s Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) is an advanced driving assistance system (ADAS) that can automate driving functions on highways.
The system uses TomTom’s ADAS map that helps deliver the most fuel-efficient performance for the vehicle. TomTom says it can lead to a reduction of 5% in fuel per vehicle.
Antoine Saucier, Managing Director TomTom Automotive, says: “The new PPC technology is using the TomTom ADAS Map to assist with driving functions on interurban roads – which only delivers a safer, more comfortable ride but also significant fuel savings and a reduction in CO2 emissions.”
TomTom is a location technology specialist based in Amsterdam. It has offices in 30 countries.
