Following its world premiere, the fourth-generation Škoda Octavia was unveiled to the world in Prague, presenting a number of technological firsts for the Czech brand’s best-seller.
Highlights included a new two-spoke steering wheel plus a new multi-level instrument panel and large central display.
The new Octavia will also use shift-by-wire technology to electronically communicate the desired DSG transmission setting. Also making its debut in the new Octavia is the Climatronic three-zone air conditioning system.
To no surpise, the Octavia shares a fair bit with the new Golf, which was also revealed a few weeks ago. Like the Golf, the Octavia can have a 1.0-litre, 1.5 and 2.0-litre petrols – including 48-volt mild-hybrid tech – or a 2.0-litre diesel. Finally, there will also be a plug-in hybrid with 34 miles of electric range.
