“This day marks the start of a new era.” With those words, Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG, opened the world premiere of the new all-electric Taycan.
Blume added: “The Taycan links our heritage to the future. It carries forward the success story of our brand – a brand that has fascinated and thrilled people the world over for more than 70 years.”
The four-door sports saloon was launched amidst much fanfare during a live press conference held simultaneously on three continents – North America, China and Europe.
The first models in the new series are the Taycan Turbo S and Taycan Turbo.
“We promised a true Porsche for the age of electromobility – a fascinating sports car that not only excites in terms of its technology and driving dynamics, but also sparks a passion in people all over the world, just like its legendary predecessors have done. Now we are delivering on this promise,” explains Michael Steiner, Member of the Executive Board of Porsche AG – Research and Development.
The Taycan is an all-wheel drive vehicle and it will have an 800-volt architecture, enabling short charging times. Its lithium-ion battery boasts a capacity of around 90 kWh.
The vehicle will also be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds.
In terms of the car’s interior, Porsche says that classic design features have been reinterpreted and brought into the digital age. Porsche is offering an entirely leather-free interior for the first time.

The luxury brand has also teamed up with Apple Music to create the first fully integrated music streaming experience inside the car.
Apple Music subscribers can stream over 50 million songs ad-free and thousands of curated playlists in the Taycan.

The luxury brand says more than 20,000 people around the world have already expressed with serious interest in buying their own Taycan.
