Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt has chosen the VivaTech event in Paris to launch a personal electric scooter service in Europe. His company, known in the US as Bolt Mobility, also unveiled the Bolt Nano e-car – an electric car with the world’s smallest swappable battery. It will be available in late 2020.
Bolt is an advisor and investor in the company. Watch the unveiling of the Bolt Nano at VivaTech below.
In the US, Bolt Mobility already has fleets of personal electric scooters on the streets of Fort Lauderdale, Arlington and Alexandria. There are plans for extensive expansion of the footprint across the country, including Miami, Atlanta, Nashville, Los Angeles and more.
In a press statement released earlier this year Bolt says: “I have run in cities all over the world, and I can tell you first hand that traffic is getting worse and worse in every city on every continent on earth. The air quality is also getting worse, and I feel that now is the time that we must do something about it. That’s why I am so proud to be an advisor and investor of the Bolt Mobility electric scooter – a mode of transportation that will truly change the way people move.”
Dr. Sarah Haynes, Bolt’s Co-Founder, Co-CEO and Chairwoman says: “Bolt is a best-in-class portfolio of micromobility products designed to empower communities with fast, efficient, affordable transportation solutions prioritizing inclusion, equity and the democratization of opportunity, education and access.”
Bolt Mobility was founded in 2018 and is based in Miami Beach, Florida.
