Following his statement at the end of February to close all physical stores after finally achieving a $35,000 price tag for the Model 3, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has backtracked on his decision and will raise the price of other models by 3%.

Starting next week, the more expensive Model 3s, the Model S and Model X will be bumped up in price to accommodate for store costs due to what Tesla says is a two-week-long evaluation of its retail locations.

Tesla was set to close its stores and move over to online sales exclusively, to help lower the price of its vehicles by 6% and achieve the $35,000 target it had for the brand-saving Model S. However, just a few weeks later, it seems that this won’t be the case any longer

Tesla did still confirm that all sales will be done online, even in stores. Salespeople will show customers how to order vehicles on their phones and tablets. There may also be a very small number of cars in showrooms that can be purchased directly from the store.
